Teens who Drank Soda or Pop in the Last Week: 9th, 11th Graders

Measurement Period: 2022
This indicator shows students who drank a can, bottle, or glass of soda or pop one or more times per day during the past seven days.

Why is this important?

Sugar-sweetened beverages, which include soda or pop, fruit drinks, and sport drinks, are some of the highest contributors of added dietary sugar and provide little to no nutritional value. These drinks are associated with various adverse health outcomes, including increasing overweight and obesity rates, diabetes, and dental disease. While the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages has declined over the last few years, teens are still some of the highest consumers of these drinks. Limiting or eliminating sugary beverages can help individuals maintain a healthy weight and have a healthy diet.
